IN PARTNERSHIP WITH UNDERGROUND FOOD COLLECTIVE

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.

Registration || Route & Ride Info || Volunteers || Photo Gallery

MACSAC presents the 4th annual Bike the Barns, a spectacular fundraising bicycle ride that features local farms and local food prepared by Underground Food Collective. When you participate in Bike the Barns, you not only enjoy a well-planned route spaced with sustainable, local farms and artisan delicacies, but you also are supporting an increasingly important right to our future - our health! The health of our neighbors, our land, our farmers, and our local economies. All of the proceeds from this event benefit MACSAC's Partner Shares Program which helps low-income families purchase fresh, local, organic vegetables and have a direct connection with their food and farm through community supported agriculture.

We're riding to make sure all of our neighbors have access to fresh, healthy food! In 2010, the Partner Shares Program has assisted more families than ever before and provides more than 15,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to low-income families each year.  With your help, we can reach our fundraising goal of $35,000 to make sure all of our neighbors have access to healthy food.  Our generous sponsors have helped us kick-start our fundraising campaign by contributing more than $10,000. Please visit and thank our 2010 Bike the Barns sponsors!

Give your friends and families the opportunity to express their commitment to healthy, nutritious communities by pledging their support for your ride.

If you cannot join us for the ride, you can still support this important program by being a sponsor of the event, pledging a rider or the Carrot Cruiser, MACSAC's ghost rider, or joining us at the After Party.

Registration

Registration is closed. We have reached our rider capacity of registered riders. If you would like to be put on a waiting list, please email, gini@macsac.org.
We're asking each participant to set a fundraising goal of at least $50, in addition to your registration fee. It's easy! Plus fundraisers can win great prizes from local businesses. You register online and create a personal webpage for recruiting fundraising pledges. Just send out one email, and see the response! If you'd like to get pledges in person, download the paper Pledge Form. You'll be able to manually enter paper pledges to track your totals. If we receive checks in the mail for a rider, we will enter in paper pledges for that rider.

When you register, you will be asked to select one of three times - 8:30am, 8:50am, or 9:10am - to start the ride. We strongly suggest that you talk with your friends before you register to decide what time you want to leave so that you can be together. We hope that organizing waves of riders for departures will reduce traffic congestion on the road, and reduce long lines for registration and food!

Registration fees:

$65 Full Registration - Tickets for riders - includes rider/route support, entry into the After Party, plus delicious snacks and beverages along the way

$30 After Party only (4-7pm) - Tickets for non-riders - includes entry to After Party at Token Creek for music, mingling, relaxing, plus more food and beverages

Free admission for youth under 12.

The Bike the Barns After Party is open to everyone! Non bike-riders and riders alike, along with MACSAC farmers, volunteers and staff will celebrate the day amongst friends and more delicious food. Great prizes will be given to the top fundraisers. The After Party will be held at Token Creek Park from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Tickets are $30, which includes beverages and grilled snacks.

Route

This year's route is approximately 62 miles and takes us northeast of Madison to feature three farms and farm businesses. We will be starting and ending at Token Creek Park. Then we will travel northeast, enjoy some ice cream and Sassy Cow Creamery tours, stop for lunch at Emerald Meadows Family Farm, part of Two Good Farms CSA, and work our way back south to JenEhr Family Farm. We are in the process of confirming the specific route with local and county officials. Stay tuned for more details.

Find more information at the Ride & Route Information page.

Bike the Barns Merchandise

The Bike the Barns fine art prints are still available for $20. We will also be offering the prints already framed for $35. This year will be offering another attractive t-shirt of the same quality for $15.
