Partner Shares participant payments

CSA Share Costs:
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a partnership between a family and a farm. A family purchases a “share” of a particular farm’s produce at the beginning of the season. The farmer provides a weekly or bi-weekly box of vegetables for an average of 20 weeks, typically June through October. The cost of monthly payments varies depending on the farm, type of vegetable share, and your payment plan. Prices differ among share types, including every week, every other week, large, and/or extended season shares.

Approved Partner Share participants receive a 50% discount up to $300 towards their vegetable share. To provide assistance to as many farms as possible, we can provide up to $300 per household per year towards CSA shares. A majority of shares are under $600, and therefore most participant co-payments are under $300 after the 50% rate reduction. The average monthly payment for 2009 participants was $32.

When you send in your Partner Share application, you are accepting the responsibility of paying your entire co-payment to MACSAC and picking up your regular vegetable share. Current or post-dated checks equaling your full co-payment cost are due when you apply. If you application is not approved, MACSAC staff will return all checks.

Payment Options:
Payments should be made in the form of checks payable to MACSAC.

Option 1: Send a check for the total amount due to MACSAC with your application.

Option 2: Send a minimum of $25 with application. Create a monthly payment plan that pays your total co-payment by December 1st of the participating year. List check deposit dates on the 1st or 15th on the month. Write the check deposit dates and amounts of each check on the payment plan chart on the application. All checks must be written, post-dated, and mailed with application.

Option 3: Using food stamps. Harmony Valley Farm accepts food stamps for CSA share payments (see the Farm List). These payments may be combined with Partner Share funds to cover the cost of your share. Using food stamps for payments must be arranged directly with the farm. Contact MACSAC staff if you are planning to use food stamps to make your payments.
